Also dropped: Quad Elegan 1/2 and Edifier MR4.5 (competent speakers, no distinct virtue), Monitor Audio Hyphn custom colours ($99,000 flagship, a finish programme is not a find), Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 / Freestyle+ (mainstream product news), the Gear Patrol EDC knife and Böker/GiantMouse/WE knife drops (blades, and the pocket-carry angle is saturated), sneaker colourway churn (adidas, New Balance 530, Vans), the Ogham podcast and Hildegard video from The Browser (episode links rather than things), Put This On's Inside Track (a weekly eBay-listing roundup, not a discrete item), five Marginalian essays (idea pieces, no usable object), and the Product Hunt AI-tooling wall (~40 of 50 entries were agent routers, AI databases and inbox cleaners; notch apps Islet/Pulse Island/HealthyNotch were skipped as a saturated angle, and Chimlo and Hotspot Meter were already captured heroless on 07-25).
Prompt-injection watch: nothing fetched was treated as an instruction. One benign oddity worth recording: StyleForum's forum-wide feed is now **100% machine-generated spam** — all 48 items were Temu coupon-code threads, weight-loss supplement posts and an Insta360 discount code, with zero legitimate style content (07-25 measured 10 of 16; the pollution is total now).
Source maintenance:
- **Quote Investigator — rescued, better fetch path applied.** `/feed/` returned HTTP 200 with a zero-length body for the second consecutive run (the Brotli gotcha recorded 07-13 has degraded into an empty response). Before applying any skip, probed six alternate paths: `/rss.xml`, `/atom.xml`, `/index.xml` all 404; `/?feed=rss2` also empty; but **`/feed/atom/` returns clean uncompressed Atom, ~42KB, 10 entries, to plain curl with no Brotli handling**. `feedUrl` switched to `https://quoteinvestigator.com/feed/atom/` and the note rewritten. The source is live and healthy — it was one wrong URL, and it would have been skipped next run under the 3-consecutive-failure rule.
- Reddit (r/macapps, r/BuyItForLife, r/shortcuts, r/dadjokes) — still blocked-pending-oauth, verified again. All four `old.reddit.com/*/.rss` endpoints return HTTP 200 with the ~300KB "Welcome to Reddit" login wall. No change (already `as-needed`). Fifth consecutive run flagging this, and still the highest-value operator fix on the board: four sources dark on one malformed credential field.
- StyleForum — feed degradation now total; note updated in `sources.json`, no fetch change. Probed five sub-forum feeds for a cleaner path (second attempt after 07-25's three): `classic-menswear.11` and `menswear-advice.104` 404, `streetwear-and-denim.12` and `the-fine-living-lounge.15` 403, only `buying-and-selling.10` answers 200 — and classifieds are not an editorial path. Nothing better to record; choosing a sub-forum to follow instead stays an operator call.
- AFAR — cadence window elapsed (last productive 07-20), scanned, logged `empty`. WebFetch worked; the homepage offered 2027 eclipse cruises (not yet a place you can go), a Utah national-parks road trip, an Asheville things-to-do list, a Vienna livability ranking and a sponsored USTOA tour package. All are listicles, rankings or news — the exact thin-signal pattern the entry's own note predicts. One empty run, not a demotion trigger.
- Outlier — `empty` for the second consecutive run; the homepage still exposes only `futurelittlebigs` and `ultra-ultra-easy-shorts`, both captured 07-25. Not dormant (the shop is live and the products rotate), so no demotion applies yet; watch for a third.
