Grand feu enamel is fired in a kiln at temperatures near 1,600°F, with each color layer requiring its own firing and a real chance of the dial cracking before it's done. The result is a technique more associated with Swiss haute horlogerie applied to a doghouse-and-goggles cartoon, made to order in limited numbers.
