The hero is a 2000×1333 CC BY-SA photograph of a single enormous grey face lying on its side in clipped green hedges: eyes shut, lips pushed out, the whole thing lit in flat sun. Nothing needs explaining. A visitor arriving cold sees a giant sleeping head in a garden and understands instantly that something odd and good is going on, which is exactly the job of the front page.

Today's pick costs fourteen euros to stand in front of. The never-picked pool (74 of 95 reviews have never held the hero) was not needed this run, since a same-day graduate genuinely earns it.
