site: reviews — Porcelain Room, Sailor's Knife, We Are Rewind Pink Floyd (graduate from finds)
Three graduations from today's shortlist, all fact-checked against primary sources rather than the feeds that surfaced them. Porcelain Room (Aranjuez): held up and gained a story — Gricci's screwed (not glued) plaques were an inherited Capodimonte technique, proven by the near-identical Portici room that was dismantled and moved intact in 1866. Buen Retiro burned in 1812 under Wellington and reopened in 1817 as La Moncloa. Sailor's Knife: the review found the find's own "113 years" figure is unverified arithmetic (2026-1913) — Best Made only claims "a century". Find corrected to match; the caveat is now in the review. The Gatun Lake salvage story itself checks out independently of the marketing. We Are Rewind: the "only cassette pressing of the 50th-anniversary remaster" claim traces entirely back to the maker's press materials, so the review attributes it rather than asserting it. No auto-reverse noted as an honest limitation.

Best Made's Sailor's Knife pairs new German steel with old, salvaged wood: the handle is Cumarú (Brazilian teak) pulled from the bottom of the Panama Canal after 113 years submerged, denser and harder for the soak. The blade itself is unrelated to that history — a modern niobium-alloyed stainless (the Niolox family) ground convex by Robert Herder, the Solingen workshop that's made knives under the windmill mark since 1872. At $320, it's currently sold out; Best Made takes waitlist signups for the next run.

Inside the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, a small chamber is porcelain from floor to ceiling — walls, moldings, even the light fixture. Between 1760 and 1765, the Buen Retiro factory's Giuseppe Gricci modeled every surface into white porcelain reliefs of monkeys, dragons, and robed Chinese figures, then topped it with a chandelier shaped like a palm tree, a monkey climbing the trunk after the man already scaling it.
