Also skipped at write time on verification: **Zevor Hidden Magazine Precision Screwdriver** (The Awesomer) — genuinely good object, a pop-up magazine holding 12 double-ended bits with 24 tip types in an aluminium body, but a search resolved it to a *live Kickstarter* at $19 against a $36 planned retail, which is squarely the "speculative / not-yet-shipping" exclusion; revisit if it ships. **Titanium EDC Storage Box** (Wanersen) and **Nordik Vegan Leather Valet Tray** — unbranded Amazon-marketplace commodities below the bar; the Nordik post is also a recycled Dec 2025 item re-dated. **Pocket Pie Maker** — likewise a re-run of an Apr 2025 post, and a mass-market countertop appliance. **Edge & Pop Dual Tool**, **Buck fighting knife**, **Civivi folders**, **Benchmade roundup** (Gear Patrol/Awesomer) — commodity knives, the same settled call as 07-18..07-21. **Turning a Standing Desk Into a Crossbow** — a build video for a weapon. **Handcrafted Jian Sword** and **Throwable Fire Extinguisher Ball** (This Is Why I'm Broke) — the first a weapon, the second unverifiable because TIWIB still serves an unrendered AngularJS shell to curl. **Life-Sized RX-93FF Gundam Statue** — almost certainly the real Fukuoka statue and a good travel find, but the only route to it was that same unrenderable TIWIB page, so it was omitted rather than written from memory. **Swissair Flight 111 Memorial** and **Cerro de los Ángeles** (Atlas Obscura) — a mass-fatality crash memorial and a Civil-War-scarred monument; both real places, neither a delight. **The Canal Vulva (Kutkunst)**, Rotterdam — declined as a cold link to send readers. **Faceblind** (Show HN) — a good idea (browser-local video face blurring) whose page is a 446-byte SPA shell with no server-rendered content, so nothing about it could be verified. **Emirates economy headrest** (Wallpaper*) — not a thing anyone can buy.
New source nominees: **none.** The outbound-credit scan over this run's feeds produced no reproducible "via / h-t / first seen on" credit to a domain that isn't already in `sources.json` or on the backlog — two candidate strings surfaced in a first pass and then failed to reproduce on a targeted re-grep, so neither was recorded rather than nominate something unverified. Backlog unchanged at 14+ unvetted (see candidate-sources.md); highest-conviction, repeatedly re-surfacing: **The Public Domain Review**, **Michael Tsai**, **MetaFilter**, **Colossal**, **Craig Mod / Ridgeline**, **Nomadico**. Nine consecutive runs past the nudge threshold now.

Ran a single `build-bundle auto` rather than `cluster-bundles`: the unbundled shortlisted pool stands at 22 (20 eligible — `do-your-whisky-whiskey-making-kit` and `fieldbar-mini-bar` remain excluded as alcohol-related; they stay published but can never be clustered into a new bundle), which is under the ~25 backlog threshold. No weekly catch either — `2026-07-19-the-weeks-catch` covers Jul 1319 and the 7-day window has not elapsed; next one is due around Jul 26.
Hero count: **4 of 5** (osakas-midpoint-datum is the only heroless member), so the bundle clears the floor of 2 and hits the ~4 aim. Reuses across bundles: 0 — every item is drawn from the unbundled pool and no existing bundle was edited.
Theme rationale: each of the five is a spot where the ground itself is unremarkable and somebody nonetheless fixed a marker to it — a carved stone outside a Dresden backyard for a punctured pot, a golden pin for the arithmetic under every road sign in Osaka, a 40th-anniversary mural for a bicycle that only ever flew in the cut, a park and museum for a canal dead since 1874, and a cave whose 1920s spoil heap ended up naming an entire Copper Age civilisation. The argument is the gap between the sight and the reason.
Distinctness check against the standing bundles: this sits nearest `2026-07-21-kept-because-somebody-decided-to`, and the line between them is upkeep versus commemoration — that bundle is about things that survive because somebody keeps doing something (roses pushed into a door every January, a one-tonne stone levered over every 5 November), while this one is about a single past event that earned a permanent marker nobody has to maintain. No item overlaps, and no member of either bundle appears in the other.
Deliberately left out of this bundle:
- **drops-of-rain-etretat** — the day's best hero and its strongest travel find, but it fails the theme on its own terms: nothing about it is unremarkable to look at, which is the whole argument. Held back for review graduation instead, where the image can carry a page.
- **bandai-head-office-tokyo** and **liebesweg-poppenhausen** — both were tried in a 7-item version and cut. Bandai is a company decorating its own forecourt rather than anyone marking a spot, and the Liebesweg is an installation trail, not a commemoration. Padding to 7 would have cost the theme its edge and dropped the hero ratio to 4-in-7.
Second-strongest cluster, **not written this run**: "Nothing to set up first" — `chalk-macos-sketch-app`, `orate-mac-text-to-speech`, `imagin-raw-photo-browser`, `osaurus`, each of which deletes a preparatory step rather than adding a feature (no project to create, no upload, no import, no cloud). It clears the hero floor at 2 but sits well under the ~4 aim in a 4-item grid, and it is adjacent to `2026-07-21-a-different-way-in`. Held for a run where another hero-bearing Mac utility lands and the argument can carry 56 tiles.
Deferred cluster still waiting (unchanged, third consecutive run): "One index of everything" — `detourmap`, `diena-timeline-of-everything`, `ex-situ-displaced-artifacts-map`, all still at zero heroes because each is a live map/timeline canvas whose og:image is a text title card. `grace-cathedral-gaussian-splat` has the same problem and the same deferral (see 07-21 reviews entry).
Uncovered finds (eligible pool, no honest theme this run): drops-of-rain-etretat, bandai-head-office-tokyo, liebesweg-poppenhausen, quote-the-people-have-spoken, chalk-macos-sketch-app, orate-mac-text-to-speech, imagin-raw-photo-browser, osaurus, morse-code-bracelet, transformers-mysterious-prime, transparent-window-bird-feeder, powerhouz-starship-home-dashboard, detourmap, diena-timeline-of-everything, grace-cathedral-gaussian-splat. Not padded into a cluster on purpose.
