+Ten years after his death, Umberto Eco's personal library opened to the public in Palazzo Poggi, Bologna — some 32,000 volumes, including working copies of *The Name of the Rose* with his own handwritten corrections. Before a single book moved, archivists mapped the collection shelf by shelf to record Eco's original sequencing, then rebuilt it exactly, so the semiotician's private logic of what sat next to what survives intact.
