That leaves **old-jail-art-center**, and it is a genuinely good front page rather than a consolation. The virtue is legible in a single line — a frontier jail bought for $25 to save it from the wrecking ball, now hanging Picasso, Renoir, Klee and Modigliani in its original cells with prisoner graffiti still cut into the limestone — and it is unmistakably benign: a free-admission art museum, nothing that cuts, burns or explodes, no camping gear, nothing disturbing. The hero is a clean, public-domain Carol M. Highsmith exterior of the 1878 building. Honest weakness, recorded: at 960×694 it is the lowest-resolution hero of the day, and a handsome stone building reads less instantly from the tile than Microlino's nose-open bubble car did — the delight here is carried more by the title and subtitle than by the image alone.
It still beats holding microlino-microcar: the incumbent is only a day old, but a fresh pick is itself a daily contribution to delight (`EDITORIAL.md`, north star), and Old Jail is not a weak graduate being forced onto the front page — it cleared the fact-check with no corrections at all and gained detail in the process. The never-picked pool (67 of 87 reviews have never held the hero) was not needed this run, since a same-day graduate genuinely earns it.

Security note (prompt injection): **clean this run.** Atlas Obscura's raw feed was saved to a fresh path (`/tmp/atlas-0721-scan.xml` was avoided in favour of `/tmp/f_atlas0721.xml`) specifically to dodge the stale poisoned `/tmp/atlas.xml` a prior session left behind, then grepped for the 07-18/07-19 markers (`NOTE TO THE EDITOR`, `font-claude-response-body`, `ignore previous`, `system prompt`, `PURGE HOMEPAGE`, `you are an AI`) — **zero hits across all 27 entries**. That is the second consecutive clean Atlas Obscura scan. Two marker hits elsewhere were investigated and both are false positives: MacStories matched "AI assistant" inside ordinary editorial prose comparing ChatGPT to Siri, and Product Hunt matched it inside a product tagline ("The most capable AI assistant with its own inbox"). No instruction-shaped text was found in any feed, and nothing fetched was treated as an instruction.
Source maintenance: **1 change.** **Standard & Strange Journal** demoted `cadence` weekly→`as-needed` — the feed is live and parses, but its newest entry is 2026-06-29, so nothing new has appeared across three-plus weekly windows (dormant-source rule). `updated` bumped to 2026-07-21. Not actioned: no `fetch: "skip"` entry has a `skipReason` older than 90 days, so no quarterly re-probe was due (the oldest are dated 2026-07-03).
Reddit regression (worth the user's attention): **all four Reddit sources were hard-blocked this run** — r/macapps, r/shortcuts, r/dadjokes and r/BuyItForLife each returned a "Welcome to Reddit" login-wall HTML page instead of Atom from `old.reddit.com/<sub>/.rss`. This is a step down from 07-20, when r/macapps and r/dadjokes both succeeded from that host; it is now the whole host, not per-sub throttling. r/BuyItForLife is on its 6th consecutive blocked run. Still no `REDDIT_CLIENT_ID`/`REDDIT_CLIENT_SECRET` in env or `.env`, so app-only OAuth remains impossible; per the skill's Reddit note all four are logged blocked-pending-oauth and **held** rather than skipped. If the login wall persists next run, these four daily sources are effectively dead weight and the user should either supply credentials or accept a `fetch: "skip"`.
Zero-yield observations (no action yet): **Gear Patrol** returned 46 in-window entries and produced nothing — the feed is now almost entirely commodity roundups (sneaker/watch/knife "best of 2026 so far" listicles, car news, retail discount posts); this is the second run in a row it has been re-served heavily or yielded filler, and a cadence demotion is worth considering if it repeats. **The Browser** again returned 12 in-window items that are all literary essay recommendations with nothing to point at (same shape as 07-20). **Daring Fireball**, **Six Colors**, **MacStories** and **OSXDaily** were dominated by the iOS 27 / macOS 27 Golden Gate beta cycle and Apple-v-OpenAI litigation — live and healthy, just nothing capturable. **Uses This** had a single in-window interview. Empty on recency: Messy Nessy Chic (newest 2026-07-04), Standard & Strange (2026-06-29), Kikkerland (2026-06-08), Roadtrippers Magazine (2026-06-09), Snow Peak (2026-05-16). **Outlier** was scanned via its configured webfetch path and surfaced only already-captured or undated catalogue fabrics (Injected Linen, Sunwarp) — note for a future maintenance pass: it is a Sanity/Next.js site, not Shopify, so `*/products.json` paths 404 and must not be added as a fetch shortcut.
Also skipped at write time on verification: **Sushi Chess Set** and **Retroid Pocket Nova** (both surfaced by The Awesomer / This Is Why I'm Broke, but The Awesomer now returns a Cloudflare interstitial to curl and This Is Why I'm Broke serves an unrendered AngularJS shell, so neither product page could be verified as buyable — omitted rather than guessed); **Flintstones Vitamins Vinyls** (still a notify-me sign-up; the 07-20 run recorded a 23 Jul drop date, so it remains unbuyable today); **Linguin** (a genuinely good 120-language dictionary, but its homepage leads with a "trending words" panel whose top entry is an explicit vulgarity — not a page to send readers to cold); commodity Gear Patrol watch/knife/sneaker roundups and the Shinola and Smith & Wesson items (same settled call as 07-18/07-19); **La Marca Prosecco Spritz** (alcohol, categorical exclusion); **Boobie Cactus Plant** and **Horror Movie Garden Gnomes** (below the bar). Two MoMA items were dropped as mainstream: the **Samsung Music Studio 5** (its third rejection — see 07-18 and 07-20) and the **Samsung Frame Pro TVs**.
New source nominees: **none new.** The only outbound credits in this run's feeds were "via colossal" (×2, Kottke) and "via craig mod" (×1, Cool Tools) — both already on the standing backlog, which makes it their third and second consecutive week of arriving secondhand respectively. Run note (infrastructure, not editorial): the capture stage was authored in the main session rather than fanned out to scanner subagents.
