description: "A Mac photo-library app whose latest release adds a 'Show Faces in Dock' setting — pin any person from your library as an actual Dock icon — and sidesteps macOS Tahoe's forced squircle app-icon shape."
---
Iris is a Mac photo-library manager, but its latest release does two delightfully contrary things: a "Show Faces in Dock" setting lets you pin any person from your library as a real Dock icon sitting among your apps, and it escapes macOS Tahoe's mandatory squircle icon shape with a legacy-icon trick only possible outside the Mac App Store. It's the rare app that treats the Dock and the icon grid as places to play rather than obey. Flagged by Daring Fireball via developer Tyler Hall's blog.
