+Fresh pick, graduated in this same run. A CAD render of the open gearbox from above: a yellow nine-lobed rotor with a ring of output holes seated inside a black housing lined with ten pins, bearing at the centre, stepper just visible underneath.

+Why it wins: it is the only tile of the three new reviews that both explains itself cold *and* invites a click. A stranger sees an object somebody clearly made — high contrast, a shape you cannot immediately name, no text — and the subtitle supplies the human hook that carries it past the engineers ("a fifteen-year-old's 3D-printed 1:9 drive, published with the version that failed"). Front-page rules checked and clear: a gearbox turns slowly and does nothing else. Nothing that cuts, burns or explodes, nothing injury-prone or disturbing, no camping.

A cycloidal drive's entire interest is its motion, so on the face of it this is the better *review* hero independent of the pick — which is the test 08-01 set. It failed on inspection: the GIF is a phone video of the printed part, a dark PLA puck on a blown-out white worktop, heavily dithered by GIF quantisation. At tile size it is a black circle. Rejected.

It is a flat-shaded CAD render on neutral grey with no fine texture, which is the kind of image that degrades most gracefully, and it was still the best of four candidate assets. Flagging it as the one honest reason an operator might veto this pick.
